Nate Strickland, Jr.

BAILEY – Nate Strickland Jr., affectionately known as Junior, was born April 7, 1940, and passed away on January 21, 2026. He was a gentle man who deeply loved his family, friends, stray cats, fast muscle cars, and classic cowboy and western television shows.

Junior loved his work at Williams Plant Farm above nearly everything else. Work gave him purpose, and even as his health declined, his determination never did. He never gave up and continued to show up with eagerness and pride.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Alene Strickland; his father, Nate Strickland; his maternal grandmother, Annie Pella Rhodes Jones; his brothers, Charles Lee "Chess" Strickland and Clifton Strickland; and his brother-in-law, Raymond E. Finch Jr.

He is survived by his sister, Louise S. Finch; nephew, Wade R. Finch (Jen); niece, Heather L. Finch; four great-nieces; one great-nephew; and his beloved family at Williams Plant Farm.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Bailey Town Cemetery, 11499 S 581 Highway, Bailey, NC 27807, with Pastor Daniel Blackburn officiating.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation and sincere thanks to H.C. and Bettie Williams and family, and staff for their love, kindness, and support of Junior.

Junior will be remembered for his loyalty, work ethic, and gentle heart.
