Wilson….……..John Coleman Herring Sr., age 71, died Friday, April 6, 2012.

                         Memorial services will be conducted at Daniels Chapel Church on Monday, April 09, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. with the Rev. Johnny Sullivan and Rev. Cliff Lewin officiating.

                        He was preceded in death by his son, John C. Herring, Jr. and his parents.

                        He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Herring of the home, daughter, Susan Heath and husband, Alton, of Wilson, son, Ricky Herring and wife, Julie, of Lucama, brothers, Norman Herring, Jr. of Goldsboro, Frank Herring of Tampa, Fl., grandchildren, Ericka Herring, John Heath, Suzanne Herring, Janelle Heath and his special pet, Smoky.

James “Pete” Pipkin

Middlesex……..James “Pete” Pipkin died on Saturday, March 24, 2012.

                        He was preceded in death by his parents, James Wesley and Martha S. Pipkin, his sister, Sarah Parker and his brother, Harvey Pipkin.

                        Memorial services will be conducted in the chapel of Shingleton Funeral Home on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. Willliam Garry Bissette officiating.

                        He is survived by his daughters, Jamie Owens and husband, Fred, of Middlesex, Marsha Bissette and husband, Tracy, of Bailey, Ginger Whitley and husband, Adam, of Middlesex, one sister, Shirley Peele of Middlesex, three brothers, Henry Pipkin of Wilson, Robert Pipkin of Rocky Mount, George Pipkin of Nashville, seven grandchildren, Stacey, Daniel, Harley, Tory, Dylan, Keith and Brittany.

                        The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Helen Whitley Melton

Wilson………….…………….Helen Whitley Melton, age 72, of 5020 Conifer Court, died Sunday, March 18, 2012.

                        Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Evergreen Memorial Park.

                        Mrs. Melton was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Jeans, and a brother, Joseph Whitley.   

                        She is survived by her sister, Betty Lou Carlyle of Bailey.

                        The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Shingleton Funeral Home.

Roney Elbert White

Wilson…..….………..Roney Elbert White, age 80, of 5461 Packhouse Rd., died Friday, March 16, 2012, surrounded by God and the love of his family.

                                    He was a member of Hornes United Methodist Church and Mount Lebanon Masonic Lodge # 117.

                                    He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Courie White; daughter-in-law, Joan; three brothers, Kermit, Garvis, and Selby;  and two sisters, Mildred and Ruby.

                                    He is survived by three daughters, Ellen White Baldridge and husband, Don, of Durham, Angela White Banask and husband, Jim, of Raleigh, Pamela White Mundra of Raleigh, four sons, William Roney White and wife, Linda, of Wilson, George Timothy White of Wilson, Stewart Eli White and wife, Yvonne, of Morehead City, Lawrence Eddie White and wife, Lisa, of Apex, two sisters, Audrey White Allen of Wilson, Thelma White Sherrod of Sims, 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

                                    Funeral services will be conducted at Hornes United Methodist Church on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Tom Miller and Rev. Dennis Goodwin. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.  

                        The family will receive friends at Shingleton Funeral Home Sunday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.

Elmer Webb, Jr.

Wilson………..Elmer Webb, Jr. died on Wednesday, March 14, 2012.

                        He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Webb, Sr

                        Memorial services will be conducted in the chapel of Shingleton Funeral Home on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Stephenson officiating.

                        He is survived by his wife, Sandra Jones Webb of the home, his mother, Mildred Nanney Fulghum of Wilson one son, Elmer Troy Webb and wife, Paula of Greenville, one sister, Judy Webb Simmons of Raleigh, three half sisters, Nancy Barbee of Pilot Mt., NC, Tammy Webb Greene of Wilson, Brenda Webb Butts of Saratoga, three grandchildren, Eric Troy Webb, Logan Caitlin Webb and Amanda Laine Webb.

                        In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 5142 NC Hwy. 58 North, Wilson, NC 27896-7944.

                        The family will receive friends after the service at 2:00 p.m.

Phylis Jean Brock

Middlesex…..….……. Phylis Jean Brock, age 81, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012.

Marshall “Bud” Boykin

Wilson……..……Marshall “Bud” Boykin, age 83, died Saturday, March 3, 2012.

                        Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, at 2:00 P.M. at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at Shingleton Funeral Home.

                        He is survived by a loving niece and caretaker, Bonnie Glover of Bailey, and several other nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth Hoyle Matthews

Lucama…..….………Elizabeth Hoyle Matthews, age 87, of 4844 St. Mary’s Church Rd., went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2012.

                                    Mrs. Matthews was a founding member of Victory Free will Baptist Church where she loved singing, and playing the piano and guitar. She was an energetic and happy person that loved working in her yard and spending time with her family and church family. She was married for sixty six years to Clarence “Man” Matthews, who preceded her in death. She worked beside of her husband as a farmer and a homemaker.

                                    She was loved and will be missed by her three daughters, Linda M. Godwin and husband, Wayne of Wilson, Bonnie M. Barnes and husband, Steve Thrasher of Wilson, and Vicki M. Bunn and husband, Charlie of Kenly; three sons, Roy Matthews and wife, Jean of Wilson, Randy Matthews of Elm City, and Kelly Matthews and special friend, Emily of Lucama; three sisters, Martha Lamm of Lucama, Ruth Reid and Ruby Jones both of Hickory; two half-sisters, Elvina and Joann; a half-brother, Jimmy; seven grandchildren, Tayt, Kim, Brittany, Jason, Katrina, Lance, and Tammy; and four great-grandchildren.

                                    Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. from the Shingleton Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Wayne Whitley. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.  

                        The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 until 9 P.M. at Shingleton Funeral Home.

Joann LaChine

Surrounded by family, Joann Louise LaChine passed away on February 13, 2012.  She joins the love of her life, William LaChine Sr. (Bill) and her cherished son William LaChine, Jr. (Marlene LaChine)  Both predeceased her in 2001.  Joann is predeceased by a brother and two sisters, and survived by her sister, Nancy Pack.  Joann was a devoted and caring mother to her family, which includes Linda Hoose (Dale), Brenda Dey (Keith), Regina LaChine (Larry Alfrey), and Leigh LaChine (Kathy Burleson- LaChine).  Joann was delighted to be the grandmother of Michelle Loch (Scott), Lonnie LaChine, Kenneth Hoose (Sarah McCallum-Hoose), Kathryn Pritchard (William), Stephanie Dey, and Christine Dey.  Joann was pleased to be the great- grandmother of Lonnie LaChine, Jr., Lacey LaChine, and Gavin Hoose.  Joann will be greatly missed by her family and friends, and she was often simply called Mom or Grandma.

Joann led an active and eventful life.  She was born in Maumee, Ohio, the daughter of Aloysius and Alma Domitio, on June 5, 1929.  She lived in Toledo and then Walbridge, Ohio for 68 years.  In 1997 she and her husband retired to Wilson, North Carolina.  She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Millbury, Ohio, and later Ascension Lutheran church in Wilson, North Carolina.   A year ago she moved to a retirement home in Tarboro, North Carolina, The Fountains at the Albemarle.  Joann  worked as a nursing assistant in the newborn nursery at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, Ohio, and later as a postal clerk for the US Postal Service in Toledo, Ohio.  She was always ready with a smile and an amusing story, and collected friends everywhere she went.

Marie Glover Edwards

Bailey…………………………………Marie Glover Edwards, age 91, died Friday, February 10,2012.

                                             Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of Shingleton Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 14,2012 at 11:00 A.M. will Rev. Keith Glover officiating. Interment will follow in Bailey Town Cemetery.

                                           She was preceded in death by her husband, David Edwards; parents, Stephen and Eula Griffin Glover; brothers, Freddy, Dewey and Billy Guy Glover.

                                           Marie leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted and loving son, Jerry “Big Dog” Edwards of the home; brother and wife, Keith and Fran Glover of Raleigh; Sister, Janie Lamm and husband, Hooper of Morehead City; sister-in-law, Maxine Whitley and husband, Norman of Rocky Mount and Several Nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

                                         The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. prior to funeral service and other times at the home.
